From there, we can look more closely at its musical voice: the note, octave, cent position, fundamental frequency and the particular character of its overtones.
Our collection spans notes from C through to B, including sharps, across a range of octaves. Many bowls sit within the versatile fourth octave, while deeper third-octave bowls can bring weight and depth and higher fifth-octave bowls offer a brighter, more elevated tonal register.
The cent position tells us where a bowl sits in relation to its nearest musical note. This becomes especially useful when choosing bowls to play together or finding a new voice to complement an existing collection. Rather than simply matching note names, we consider intervals, tuning relationships, octaves, timbre and the overall harmonic landscape you would like to create.
